Overview of Anatomy and Physiology

Learning Objectives

1. Define and distinguish between anatomy and physiology.
2. Name and correctly order the levels of structural organization that make up the human body.
3. Identify the major functions of twelve organ systems.
4. Classify major organs into the organ systems to which each belongs.
5. Identify major organs from a diagram of the human body.
6. List the functions that the human body must perform to maintain life.
7. List the basic survival needs of the human body.
8. Define homeostasis, and identify the elements of a homeostatic control system.
9. Distinguish between and give examples of positive and negative physiological feedback loops.
10. Be able to identify key parts of and safely use a microscope to bring microscopic samples into visual focus.
